Viettel ready to switch its 11-digit subscribers to 10-digit ones
PANO - In less than one month, all mobile service providers in Vietnam will have to switch their 11-digit phone numbers to 10-digit ones. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the switch aims to optimize the management of the phone numbers, but it will affect around 60 million mobile phone subscribers.

Viettel has to switch about 43 million mobile phone subscribers with their 11-digit numbers to 10-digit ones this time. In order to minimize the impact of the switch on existing subscribers, Viettel has successfully piloted the switch since the beginning of August before the official switch on upcoming September 15.
It has also successfully conducted calls from the switched subscribers to telephone numbers of other service providers. Viettel has by now completed different plans for the switch, including communications plans, prior to the official date of implementation from September 15 as regulated by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Accordingly, the Viettel will have to conduct the switch in two phases for 8 strings of subscribers from 0162 to 0169. It will also support subscribers to update their phone contacts by the app. MyViettel, which means users don’t have to change manually the contact lists on their smartphones.
For those who don’t use smartphones, they can have their contact lists updated at Viettel stores. The service provider also has a plan to help those using app. Mocha and proactively contact domestic banks and major app. providers like Zalo, Viber, Facebook, Google, etc. to inform them about the switch plan.
To help users better understand the benefits of the switch, Vietnam has built communications plans to inform subscribers via different channels such as IVR, customer service operator, SMS service, social media, etc.
Viettel has committed it would ensure all information needed for subscribers and support customers with an app. on the switch.
