Viettel launches Telehealth at Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics
PANO - The Vietnam National Hospital of Pediatrics, on September 11, put into operation the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel)-built Telehealth system to serve its remote healthcare consultation work.
Through the remote healthcare consultation and support system, doctors of the hospital can connect with their colleagues from 168 medical establishments to give them professional assistance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof., Dr. Le Thanh Hai, Director of the National Hospital of Pediatrics, said that with the application of the Telehealth system, the hospital hopes to support colleagues at local health centers to improve professional qualifications and skills. In the coming time, the hospital will host online health consultancy and examination activities and assist their colleagues at local-level hospitals in handling difficult and complex cases, thereby gradually improving the quality of child healthcare in the local-level medical establishments.
Acting Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long emphasized that the application of the Telehealth system is an important step in completing the medical examination, counselling, diagnosis, and treatment system of the hospital, so as to take care of people’s health more effectively and safely amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He asked the hospital to promote training to raise the competence and professionalism of its personnel, apply high-tech to healthcare activities, and expand cooperation with domestic and international medical establishments.
The health official hoped that through Telehealth system, the hospital’s doctors will assist not only their colleagues at provincial-level hospitals, but also those in district- and commune-level hospitals. He asked the hospital to provide lectures and presentations to raise the quality of care at local-level medical establishments.
On the same day, from the National Hospital of Pediatrics-based Operating Centre, the hospital’s doctors connected with their colleagues from some local-level medical establishments to give health consultations and diagnoses to patients at the infirmary of Quang Ninh province’s Co To district, Bac Giang’s Hospital of Pediatrics, Thai Binh’s Hospital of Pediatrics, and the Hung Vuong General Hospital in Phu Tho province.
The hospital also consulted with doctors at Extension Community Healthcare Outcome Institute in the U.S.
