This strategic project underscores Viettel’s determination to developing Vietnam’s national logistics infrastructure, aiming to alleviate bottlenecks in economic growth and enhance cross-border trade efficiency.

Solution for agricultural export congestion

Located in a prime area within Dong Dang Border Gate Economic Zone, the Viettel Logistics Park benefits from seamless connectivity to national highways, expressways, and railways, making it an ideal hub for cross-border goods transport.

Spanning 143.7 hectares with an investment of nearly VND 3,300 billion, this state-of-the-art logistics park is designed to serve as a trade bridge between ASEAN and China. It aims to position Vietnam as a strategic logistics center in Southeast Asia.

For years, bottlenecks at Northern border gates, caused by infrastructure limitations and inefficient customs procedures, have posed significant challenges for businesses, particularly in agricultural exports. The Viettel Logistics Park provides a comprehensive solution by offering end-to-end import-export logistics services. These include customs clearance, quarantine, inspection, transshipment, warehousing, and cross-border transportation.

Equipped with advanced technologies and optimized processes, the park integrates directly with the customs’ data systems of Vietnam and China, reducing customs clearance times from 4-5 days to under one day and cutting clearance costs by 30 to 40 percent. This is especially beneficial to agricultural and seafood products, which require strict time and storage conditions. The park’s facilities are projected to double the efficiency of refrigerated container transportation for fruits from Southern provinces to Lang Son, enabling 4-5 trips per month compared to the current 2.5 trips.

The logistics park also consists an inter-sector workspace for Vietnamese and Chinese forces, including customs, border guards, quarantine agencies, banks, and tax offices. It is expected that goods inspected and cleared at the park can proceed directly to China without further procedures. To ensure security and efficiency, container trucks are sealed and monitored via a lane equipped with hundreds of cameras—standard cameras every 20 meters and AI-powered cameras every 100 meters.

The park can handle up to 1,500 vehicles daily, doubling the current capacity of customs clearance at Lang Son’s Dong Dang border gate.

Applying advanced technologies

The Viettel Logistics Park is built based on cutting-edge technologies, such as IoT, 5G, AI, Big Data, and Digital Twins. Automated systems, including smart lockers, drones, and autonomous vehicles, will optimize processes from warehousing to customs clearance.

Designed to U.S. LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) green building standards, the park features over 3,300 trees, renewable energy systems, and a circular economy model, promoting an environmentally friendly logistics ecosystem. According to Colonel Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Post, the logistics park is named a "park" due to its green and sustainable design, inspired by world-leading logistics centers.

The park also integrates robotic automation in its e-commerce and express parcel handling areas, utilizing AGV robots and DWS (dimensioning, weighing, and scanning) systems to manage up to 600,000 parcels daily. Its "dark warehouse" concept eliminates the need for lighting, as robots handle all operations efficiently and accurately, with storage racks as tall as 10-story buildings.

Online booking with V-Gate app.

To optimize operations, Viettel Post has developed the V-Gate app., enabling businesses to book slots online. This minimizes waiting times typically associated with traditional border warehouses. The app. integrates with various systems, including smart gate management system, warehouse management system (WMS), and financial systems, ensuring transparency and efficiency in goods handling.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel, highlighted the strategic vision behind the group’s investment in logistics. While logistics currently contributes 5 to 6 percent to Vietnam’s GDP and is rapidly growing, challenges, such as high costs and inconsistent infrastructure persist. Viettel’s logistics network aims to overcome these issues, creating a modern, synchronized system to connect domestic production with international trade, optimize supply chains, and reduce logistics costs, contributing to positioning Vietnam as an attractive destination on the global trade map.

The Viettel Logistics Park in Lang Son marks the first step in Viettel’s ambitious plan to establish a nationwide network of logistics centers. Future developments will include smart border gates, agricultural logistics hubs, industrial park logistics centers, supply chain infrastructure, and multimodal transport networks. These efforts aim to transform Vietnam into a major logistics hub in the region, he stressed.
