In its effort to better serve its subscribers, Viettel has focused on improving the quality of data transmission services as people are changing from traditional texting and voice messaging to using social networks.
According to figures, over 100 cultural festivals and events, including 35 large-scale ones with the participation of more than 10,000 people, take place across the country in the first lunar month.
Alongside accelerating the installation of new base transceiver stations, Viettel has also deployed a number of mobile wifi transmitting vehicles to festivals and events, and upgraded its existing base transceiver stations nearby locations of festivals and events. At this point, Viettel has deployed nearly 150 mobile and fixed 4G transceivers at 50 festivals nationwide with a data transmission speed of 7-10 times faster than the 3G network.
The newly-installed 4G network has helped ease its existing 3G network on one hand, and better serve its subscribers on the other hand.
At the Huong (Perfume) Pagoda Festival, Viettel is running 20 2G and 3G base transceiver stations and about 10 4G base transceiver stations while it has installed nearly 10 2G, 3G and 4G base transceiver stations, and deploys 2 wifi transmitters at the Yen Tu Pagoda Festival.
Likewise, the whole area of the Ba Den Mount Festival in Tay Ninh province has been covered by the Viettel 3G and 4G networks.
During the Tet, particularly on the New Year Eve, Viettel still ensured the quality of its mobile networks although the outputs of data transmission via its networks increased by 15%, and even by 30%-60% around the New Year Eve.
According to the telecom, it has installed thousands of 4G base transceiver stations and deployed nearly 200 mobile wifi transmitters across the country.
What is more, Viettel has upgraded 14,000 its existing base transceiver stations, and added hardware to some 2,200 others.
