The Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company Limited (VAECO), under the Vietnam Airlines Corporation, has officially received the FAR-145 International Certificate for Aircraft Maintenance under the U.S. standards.

An acceptance ceremony was held on January 21st at Noi Bai International Airport, with the participation of leaders and representatives from aviation organizations and companies.

At present, VAECO is responsible for maintaining Vietnam Airlines’ nearly 70 aircraft. This new certificate will now allow the Company to carry out the final stage of aircraft maintenance, instead of previously having them maintained at facilities abroad before returning them to airplane leasers; and to provide aircraft maintenance services, not only to Vietnam Airlines, but also to other airlines in the region, paving the way for the company’s development in the future.

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, the Certificate will contribute to the opening of non-stop flights from Vietnam to the USA in the near future.
