This marked the first time that Team VCS had participated in the virtualization and enterprise application categories. This remarkable achievement also signified a strategic shift in VCS’s research and competition focus, from smart devices, which had been their strength, to more complex and systemic technology platforms, such as virtualization, artificial intelligence (AI) systems, and enterprise infrastructure.
During the competition, Team VCS successfully exploited three major targets: NVIDIA Triton Inference Server, a widely used AI system in industry; Oracle VirtualBox, a leading open-source virtualization platform; and Microsoft SharePoint, a prominent enterprise data management and collaboration system.

Viettel engineers winning global cyber-security awards |
The team’s perfect score highlighted their comprehensive security analysis capabilities, rapid adaptation to emerging technology trends, and the depth of research by Viettel’s young engineers, pioneers in next-generation cyber-security.
In the previous two years (2023 and 2024), Team VCS won top prizes at the Pwn2Own competitions in Ireland and Toronto (Canada) in the smart device category.
Pwn2Own is one of the world’s most prestigious vulnerability exploitation competitions, held annually by the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI). It brings together leading research teams to compete in highly complex cyber-security challenges.
Notably, the 2025 competition marked the debut of AI-related systems as official targets. Viettel’s successful breach of a leading industrial AI platform on their first attempt was recognized as a major achievement, reflecting the company’s long-term strategy of investing in next-generation security technologies.
Although they finished second overall, Team VCS left a strong impression by successfully exploiting Microsoft SharePoint, considered the most difficult target of the competition, earning widespread recognition from the international cyber-security community.
This triumph at Pwn2Own Berlin 2025 further strengthens VCS’s international presence at major tech competitions and reinforces Vietnam’s growing reputation as a capable force in advanced cyber-security research and vulnerability exploitation.
