The Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation (VHT) has always attached much importance to patent research and registration and mobilizing the participation of its staff.

Patents in line with reality and high applicability

In early 2022, two VHT’s inventions received exclusively-protected certificates by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including “Dual-polarized wideband antenna” and “High magnification mid-wave infrared continuous zoom lens.” The recognition was considered great achievement because the U.S. is a country with the world’s leading technology and strict approval and certification criteria.

Up to now, USPTO has granted eight exclusively-protected certificates to VHT, making VHT a Vietnamese high-tech enterprise with the most patents recognized in the U.S. In addition, there are 39 VHT’s patents under a review and approval process in the U.S. Thus, there will be many more inventions of the Vietnamese company to be granted with exclusively-protected certificates in the coming time.

According to VHT’s Director Colonel Nguyen Vu Ha, the patents protected by the U.S. are proof of business success when entering the international market. The inventions are all new in the world, practical and highly applicable, contributing to helping enterprises overcome technical limitations in the areas of registration.

One of the inventions receiving exclusively-protected certificates by the U.S. is the “Patent on supporting structure force for the parallel robot by a spring system with constant force.” It is designated to assist the mechanism for parallel robots with a spring system with constant support, which is used to support parallel robots in the field of motion simulation, contributing to reducing manufacturing costs, increasing the life of the robot while ensuring that the load and workspace criteria are met. In addition, it is also applied to simulation equipment of cars, tanks, and aircraft... for training, helping reduce costs and risks, increase mobility, and can be used in all weather conditions, environments and training programs.

Since 2017, VHT has owned nearly 300 registrations, including 39 protected by the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology and 19 useful solutions. According to Clarivate’s Institute of Scientific Information - the world’s leading international organization for the analysis of scientific research, Viettel is one of the two organizations in Vietnam that have made breakthroughs in the number of patents.

Journey to intellectual property

As a matter of fact, any business or organization that wants to develop its own technology or create products with competitive technology must pay attention to intellectual property. Otherwise, their products will be copied, counterfeited, and moreover, competitors can use the same technology to register intellectual property. Being fully aware of the role of intellectual property, VHT has come up with effective solutions to promote the activity.

Accordingly, VHT has also taken other measures to encourage its staff to make technologies into intellectual property to be registered nationally and internationally. In addition, the corporation has also worked with law companies and international agencies to speed up the registration process. In Vietnam, VHT coordinates with the Intellectual Property Office to bring the patents to international markets.

There are many difficulties and obstacles facing the corporation during the process of registering its patents. Therefore, it has to work with law companies to receive consultation and support, shared VHT’s Deputy Director Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cuong Hoang.

In the coming time, VHT plans to achieve higher targets because the number of inventions that have received exclusively-protected certificates proves its strength and success. VHT tries to have between 50 and 100 new intellectual properties registered in the country and foreign countries each year.
