The ship, with a length of 63.1m, width of 11.9mm, and water displacement of 700 tons, was designed by Russia’s Marine Technology Development (MTD) Co. Ltd., and can operate at the maximum speed of 25 knots (nautical miles per hour).

This ship can perform tasks continuously over 15 days and nights at a range of 4,200 nautical miles and in bad weather with a force 12 gale and high waves.

The ship is installed with modern medical equipment, including an operating theater, to provide first-aid and further treatments to 100-120 victims in distress at sea. Besides, it also has advanced signal facilities and a helicopter pickup area classed by Bureau Veritas from France.

The ship is specially designed to conduct patrols to protect the national sovereignty over sea and islands, carry out SAR operations in high seas, tow troubled ships ashore and join international SAR activities if requested.

Attending the ceremony, Rear Admiral Hoang Hong Ha, Deputy-Commander of the Navy, asked crewmembers of the ship 924 to actively and proactively hone their professionalism to effectively operate the ship.
