The delegation included Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung and GDP’s Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung.
At the meeting, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his deep emotion and pleasure at meeting the Belarusian military advisors who had stood alongside and supported the Vietnamese people during the struggle for national independence and reunification. He conveyed his profound gratitude to these faithful friends of the Vietnamese people.
The general emphasized that during Viet Nam’s struggle for national independence and reunification, the country received valuable and effective support from the Soviet people, including the people of Belarus.

In particular, during the fiercest period of the national resistance war against the American imperialists, Soviet military advisors shared hardships with the Vietnamese people. Some directly took part in combat and bravely sacrificed their lives in Viet Nam. Their noble sacrifices remain a shining symbol of pure and faithful international friendship.
Today, the Belarusian people continue to provide valuable support for Viet Nam’s national construction and defense.
To pay tribute to the Soviet and Belarusian military advisors, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense inaugurated the Viet Nam-Soviet Union Solidarity and Friendship Monument at the Viet Nam Military History Museum in August 2025.

Expressing his warm regard for the elderly advisors, General Nguyen Trong Nghia said he hoped to organize more visits and maintain regular contact with them in the coming time.
He asked the advisors to continue coordinating with and providing the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense with documents, photographs, and memorabilia related to the resistance war against the American imperialists . He also invited them to participate in video recordings and interviews for documentaries, contributing to preserving and spreading the profound ties between the two peoples.
Deeply moved by the consistent and faithful sentiments of the Vietnamese people and the Viet Nam People’s Army, Braga Vasili Ivanovich, Chairman of the Association of Belarusian Military Advisors Assisting Viet Nam, affirmed that he would continue to follow, support, and contribute to the comprehensive development of the Belarus-Viet Nam Strategic Partnership.

* Later the same day, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the high-ranking political delegation laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk, paying tribute to the outstanding sons of heroic Belarus and Soviet Red Army soldiers who fought bravely and sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of their Fatherland and for peace.
The delegation then visited the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. Established in 1944, the museum is the world’s first museum dedicated to the Great Patriotic War and the only such museum in Belarus established during the war years.
Deeply impressed by the valuable artifacts and documents that recount the heroic history of the Belarusian nation, General Nguyen Trong Nghia highlighted them as an invaluable historical source for educating younger generations about patriotism.

He proposed that the two military museums strengthen the exchange of experience in collecting, preserving, and displaying artifacts, particularly by sharing documents on Viet Nam-Soviet Union solidarity in the past and the Belarus-Viet Nam Strategic Partnership today.
