Banquet held to mark 35th Independence Day of Belarus

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang extended congratulations to the Government and people of Belarus. The Vietnamese Government representative noted that over the nearly seven decades since President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Belarus in 1957, the friendship between the two nations has become an invaluable asset. Vietnam always cherishes Belarus’s precious assistance during its struggle for national defense and its current development efforts.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that since the two countries upgraded their ties to a strategic partnership in May 2025 (during a visit to Belarus by Party General Secretary To Lam, who is now Party General Secretary and State President), the bilateral cooperation has developed positively across various fields. Most recently, during a meeting on May 28 in Kazakhstan between Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and his Belarusian counterpart Natalia Petkevich, both sides agreed to boost exchanges at all levels, enhance economic, trade, industrial, and agricultural cooperation, and further open markets.

Moving forward, the two countries need to effectively tap their potential to serve their respective development goals and contribute to the common peace and prosperity.

For his part, Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou affirmed that Belarus focuses on developing cooperative relations with Vietnam based on friendship and mutual trust in the new era of the strategic partnership. The ambassador highlighted that Belarus is always ready to support Vietnam through difficult times and expressed belief that through joint efforts, the two countries will reach new heights in bilateral relations.
