Vietnamese grab world rapid chess events
Vietnamese masters won two gold medals at the World Youth U14, U16, and U18 Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships, which is ongoing in Greece.

International master (IM) Nguyen Anh Khoi won the boy’s U16 rapid category after nine wins. Khoi, the former world U10 and U12 standard chess champion, is seeded No 5. He successfully defeated the top four seeds to lead the category, leaving his closest rival IM Adam Kozak of Hungary far behind with seven points.
FIDE master Felix Blohberger of Austria came third with the same points as No 2 Kozak but having lower parameter.
In the boy’s U14 event, FM Ngo Duc Tri was the champion grabbing 7.5 points. The No. 12 seed won seven matches, drew one and lost one match.
Nikolaos Spyropoulos of the hosts took the silver with seven points, followed by Daniel Dardha of Belgium.
Athletes will continue with the blitz chess matches in the last days of October.
