As of December 25, 2025, the military’s high-performance sports force has participated in 181 domestic and international tournaments, winning 2,085 medals (including 672 golds, 652 silvers, and 761 bronzes) and breaking 51 records. Specifically, at the on-going 33rd SEA Games, as of December 15, military athletes have excellently secured 24 medals, including nine golds, eight silvers, and seven bronzes, and broken one record.

On behalf of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense’s leaders, General Phan Van Giang praised and congratulated the coaches and athletes for their efforts and outstanding achievements over the past years.
The minister also emphasized that the virtue of Uncle Ho’s soldiers always shines brightly in all difficult circumstances. He cited exemplary figures such as Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Ngo Thi Tuyen during wartime; Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Le Thi Hang, Director of Center C4, Viettel Aerospace Institute, in peacetime with her excellence in mastering core missile technology; and Senior Colonel Hoang Xuan Vinh, the first and only Vietnamese shooter to win a gold medal and break an Olympic record.

He expressed his delight at the great efforts of the military athletes during the 33rd SEA Games, contributing one-fourth of the total gold medals won by the Vietnam Sports Delegation.
General Phan Van Giang also acknowledged the quiet contribution of medical teams and logistics personnel; highly appreciated the role of management units in training and competition organization; and commended the practical companionship and support from enterprises such as the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), Corps 19 and Corps 20, and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB).

Concluding the meeting, General Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that the military’s sports force would continue to uphold their achievements, strive for new heights, so as to deserve the trust of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, and the entire military.
