44th Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace opened
PANO – Nearly 1,500 athletes joined the 44th Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace, held by the Hanoimoi Newspaper and the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on October 1 around Hoan Kiem Lake.
Foreign athletes at the event
Among the participants were 200 runners from advanced category athletics teams from cities and provinces nationwide, 250 overseas athletes from embassies and Vietnam-based international organizations (in the category for foreigners) and 200 delegates representing the citys’ governmental bodies. The remainders were students from schools and employees and troops from localities in Hanoi.
As a result, Dao Minh Thien and Tran Ngoc Mai (from Gia Lam) respectively won the 1,750 m for men and women of secondary schools.
Meanwhile, Tanya Lee-Parker and Adam Robinson, teachers from the United Nations International School of Hanoi won the category for foreign runners.
At the opening ceremony, ambassadors and senior delegates signed a flag of peace.
