Vietnam-RoK piano duo take stage in Hanoi and HCM City
Two young pianists – Nguyen Quynh Trang from Vietnam and Jisoo Kim from the Republic of Korea (RoK) – are set to enthrall Vietnamese audiences at their piano duo concert “Gemini” this month.
The concert will take place at Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi on September 8 and at HCM City Conservatory of Music on September 11.

Pianist Trang won second prize at the national piano competition “Concours Fall 2007” and the new artist award at the Hanoi International Piano Competition in 2010. She also triumphed at the Asia International Piano Academy Festival and Competition in the RoK in 2011.
Jisoo Kim started to study piano at the age of eight and has also won several international piano awards.
The duo, both born in 1993, will perform four-hands and duet piano performances composed by Mozart, Schurbert, Mendelsohn, Brahms, Lutoslawski and Infante.
According to the organizer, a piano duo is considered the most challenging type of concert for a pianist, as it is high-demanding technically but also needs understanding between the duo, and harmony in every note.
Inspired by the name of a constellation in the Western zodiac, “Gemini” is the first piano duo concert in Vietnam.
