PANO – The Vietnam National Cai Luong Theatre was conferred with the First-Class Independence Order on its 60th founding anniversary in Hanoi on September 9th.

The theatre was established at My Ly Hamlet, My Van Commune, Thieu Hoa District in Thanh Hoa Province in 1951 from its predecessor, The Resistance War Drama Association and then was changed into the National Northern Cai Luong Troupe in 1956, the National Cai Luong Troupe in 1978 and the National Cai Luong Theatre since 2002.

Over the past six decades, in spite of many difficulties, the theatre has served a large audience nationwide becoming a source of special entertainment for people and troops in countryside, mountainous areas and on islands.

On big events such as celebrating the Dien Bien Phu victory, Vietnam Communist Party’s founding anniversary, the National Day or President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, the troupe has always prepared new and interesting performances. They include plays: “King Tran Nhan Tong”, “Guom thieng trao tra ho than” (Return holy sword to magic lake), “Troi Nam” (“The Southern Sky”) and “Ke bac tinh” (“Unfaithful Lover”).

Previously, the theatre also won the Third-Class Resistance War Order, Second and Third-Class Labour Orders and other noble medals and certificates of merit.
