Last year, the edition "Military Region 1" of the “We - Soldiers” game show received great attention of a large number of viewers nationwide, thus actively popularizing and promoting the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.
This year, the edition "Military Region 1 - Challenge" is new in both contents and forms, drawing the participation of all forces in the whole military. In detail, the program has 12 teams competing in pairs in the knockout format. Six pairs are Military Region 7 - Army Corps 2, Hanoi Capital Command - Specialized Corps, Military Region 3 - Services, Military Region 5 - Army Corps 4, Military Region 9 - Army Corps 3, and Military Region 4 - Army Corps 1. The previous season’s champion Military Region 1 and the first runner-up Military Region 2 are advanced to the next round.
In the qualifying round, teams will compete in three events, namely overcoming obstacles; doing physical exercises, showing knowledge of military history, breaking fences using explosives and destroying targets with mortars; hitting all targets using AK submachine guns, rescuing wounded soldiers and bringing them to the designated positions.
The second round will see the competition of five pairs, and the third round three pairs. The semi-final and final rounds will name the best teams. The first episode of the game show was aired at 10a.m. on April 29 on Vietnam Television Channel 3 (VTV3). The awarding gala is scheduled to take place on December 16.
According to veteran journalist Ta Bich Loan, the new feature of this year’s edition is the increasing difficulty in each round of competition. Many small competitions in each event require players to show their skills, ingenuity and good fitness.
Attentively, towards the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army, the organizers challenge players’ knowledge of 80 typical battles through Q&A contests.
“All military regions, army corps, services and arms have different roles and duties, and how to unite them in one season is a big challenge. After many months of thinking, we realized that despite the differences, their military actions are similar. Therefore, we focused on physical training, combat readiness and test players’ knowledge through questions about history. What we want is to convey the most honest, clear and objective images of Uncle Ho's soldier," said journalist Ta Bich Loan.
With the increase in the number of participating teams, the stricter competition format, the TV game show, "Military Region 1 - Challenge" 2023, promises to bring audiences nationwide exciting competitions. First Lieutenant Trinh Van Dai, Captain of Army Corps 4 team, shared that to participate in the program, his team had to maneuver 1,700km by car. “I was quite nervous since I joined the program for the first time, but I told myself that I would do my best to achieve high results with the team," Dai said. Meanwhile, Senior Captain Trinh Huu Ve, a member of the Army Corps team, spoke highly of his team’s rivals whose members are muscular, sturdy, confident and united. “We are determined to defeat them,” Ve stressed.
