After the opening ceremony, 40 young wrestlers from communes of Quang Dien district and the neighborhood competed together on the rules of traditional wrestling.

The contest dated back from the time of the Nguyen Lords (during the Le Dynasty) in order to find strong men for the national defense cause. After an interrupted period of time, the event has been re-lived and developed at a larger scale and with more professional performance. It has become a good tradition to honor sportsmanship and promote sport activities among locals at the beginning of a Lunar New Year.
