In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh stated that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam has gained outstanding and historic achievements in all fields over the past 80 years of defense, construction and development, especially during nearly 40 years of renewal process; thereby affirming and enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena. In that glorious journey, Hanoi - the 1,000-Year-Old Capital, the heroic city, the city for peace - is where the journey of national independence, unification and development of the country began.

Chairman Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that the “Hanoi – From the Historic Autumn in 1945” special art program, held at August Revolution Square – a space that preserves significant historic events and honors patriotism, revolutionary spirit and national pride, served as a message and an affirmation of the determination of the city’s Party Organization, authorities and people to build upon the nation’s glorious history and heroic revolutionary tradition. It also highlighted their resolve to harness the Capital’s full potential and internal resources, aiming to build a green, smart and modern capital, contributing to the goal of making Vietnam a strong, prosperous and happy nation.

The program immersed the audience into an artistic space comprising three elaboratedly-staged chapters that captured important historical milestones of Hanoi’s 80-year journey since the success of the August Revolution. The artists artfully brought history to life, illustrating the historic grandeur and romantic spirit of the Hanoian. In wartime, they remained steadfastly devoted to the nation and the people, willingly sacrificing for national independence in general and for the liberation of the land of Thang Long, the thousand-year heritage, in particular.
