The event aims to maintain the traditions and unique culture of ethnic minorities in the locality.

Bao Lac love market is held twice a year on March 30 and August 15 (lunar calendar). The event is seen as a cultural exchange and culinary event of the Tay, Nung, and H’mong ethnic minority groups in Cao Bang province. It is a venue for local boys and girls from villages to date and sing.

The market is also a place for local people to sell handicraft products and local specialties.
