PANO - The work on a scientific portfolio of two 2000-2500 year-old Dong bronze drums in excellent condition, has just been finished by the Dak Lak museum, in co-operation with the HCMC Social Sciences and Humanities Center.

The two bronze drums were founded in Xuan Vinh village, Phu Xuan Commune, K’rong Nang District, Dak Lak Province in May, 2007.

The Dak Lak Museum then managed to persuade the finders to hand over the drums to the museum for further study and conservation.

According to archaeologists, the drums have an upper part 65cm in diameter, and a lower part 67cm in diameter, as well as a sun-shaped star drawn on the top surface, and date back 2000 to 2500 years ago.

The discovery of the Dong Son bronze drums has provided scientists with an opportunity to reaffirm the bonds between the ancient Viet people living in the North and ethnic minorities native to Central Highlands.
