The MSO is structured as an expanded three-section symphony orchestra, consisting of strings, percussion, woodwinds, brass, and electronic instruments, comparable in scale to symphony orchestras in Austria, France, and Germany. The orchestra includes 101 musicians, along with leaders and administrative staff.

The MSO’s Board of Directors includes Director Lieutenant Colonel Do Quoc Bao, two Deputy Directors Colonel Nguyen An Hieu and Major Vu Thang Loi.

The Military Symphony Orchestra is tasked with performing professional symphonic music for the military; training and developing symphony musicians for the armed forces and the nation; serving as a cultural and artistic bridge between the Vietnam People’s Army and the people, and international friends.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, MSO Director Lieutenant Colonel Do Quoc Bao emphasized that music, especially symphonic and academic music, continues to play a vital role in cultural life despite the rapidly changing world. Through its performances, the MSO aims to convey emotions, spread cultural values, and bring the refined treasures of global and Vietnamese music closer to the public.

He affirmed that the orchestra fully understands its responsibilities and will uphold the proud traditions of the Military University of Culture and Arts over the past seven decades. The MSO is determined to develop in a professional, specialized, and internationally standardized direction, gradually bringing military music closer to domestic and international audiences.

The MSO sets its sights on strengthening cooperation with domestic and international symphony and chamber orchestras; consolidating its organizational structure; and actively developing facilities, equipment, and instruments for training and performance.

It will build modern and academic music programs and projects while integrating Vietnamese cultural traditions into its artistic identity.
