PANO – Thousands of Hanoians on April 6 were able to see with their own eyes cherry blossoms right in Hanoi – not Japan or sometimes in Dalat city.
The event was organised by the Japan-Vietnam and Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange societies to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the two countries’ dilopmatic ties.
Three cherry trees with 300 grafted cherry branches flown to Hanoi were the most photographed and celebrated exhibit.
In addition to real cherry trees, there were many lively artificial cherry branches and trees.
Activities showcasing traditional Japanese culture such as Kimono dressing, Obon, Yosakoi dances, Origami-style paper folding, Kabuki make-up, Samurai and princess try-outs were also organised during the Cherry Blossom Festival held at the Giang Vo Exhibition Fair Centre.
Apart from contemplating cherry blossoms, visitors took part in interesting games to win small prizes, namely circle and paper fan throwing, golf, and were able to buy discount stories published by Kim Dong Publishing House.
Carp lanterns flew in the shining sky with wishes of luck, health and happiness to Japanese and Vietnamese people and further diplomatic ties.
