First National Festival of Dao ethnic culture event officially launched
PANO – The first National Festival of Dao ethnic culture festival was opened on September 29 in Tuyen Quang province in the presence of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member and Chairwoman of the National Assembly.
The first event attracted the participation of the Dao ethnic minority people from the provinces and city of Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Son La, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Noi, Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa.
The event aims to popularize the special cultural values of the Dao ethnic group.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the NA Chairwoman praised the active participation of the Dao artisans, actors, actresses and athletes in the event to popularize their most special traditional cultural values. She emphasized the significance of the first festival that showed the concern and sentiment of industries and localities for spiritual life of the Dao people, affirming that the event was also to raise people’s awareness of and responsibility for traditional culture and strengthen national unity bloc, making contribution to protecting political and defense security.
The NA Chairwoman asked agencies, industries and localities to pay more attention to preserving and promoting cultural values in general and cultural specialties of ethnic minority groups in particular, provide favorable conditions for people to join cultural events, combine cultural preservation and promotion with economic development and implement effectively the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress.
Under the theme “Preserving and Promoting Cultural Identity of the Dao Ethnic Group in the Renewal Process - Integration and Sustainable Development of the Nation”, the two-day event featured an artistic festival, traditional rituals of the Dao people, an exhibition on the Dao culture and other sports activities.
On the occasion, Tuyen Quang province launched the Tuyen Quang City Festival with different interesting activities, such as a lantern procession along streets, street art performances and a mid-autumn festival for children. The event will run until October 4.
