PANO - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on February 12 launched the “Spring color in every corner of the country” festival at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi.
The festival saw the participation of 25 ethnic minority groups from 17 provinces.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien extended his Tet wishes to the participating ethnic minority groups on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
"This annual festival aims to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the nation, as well as to contribute to strengthening great unity among the Vietnamese ethnic groups", he stressed.
A wide range of activities were also held to honor cultural identities of the 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, such as a music show, a re-enactment of the Aza Koonh festival of the Ta Oi ethnic group from Thua Thien-Hue, and “Tet nhay” (dancing festival) of the Dao ethnic people.
After the opening ceremony, delegations from central agencies and Hanoi leaders visited and extended Tet wishes to ethnic minority groups, and planted memorial trees in response to the tree planting movement themed “Forever Grateful to President Ho Chi Minh”.
