In his address, Nghia commended the achievements and contributions of press agencies and journalists to the cause of national construction and defense. In the current context, he emphasized, the press must continue to uphold its revolutionary character and serve as a pioneering force on the ideological and cultural front.
On this occasion, delegates were briefed on initial results from the implementation of a policy to streamline and restructure the press system in Ho Chi Minh City. Leaders of several press agencies expressed their support for the policy and their determination to overcome challenges to ensure its effective implementation.
* On the same day, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a press conference to announce the National Press Festival 2025 and the 19th National Press Awards – 2024.
This year, the association will continue to host the 2nd National Journalism Forum, comprising 12 sessions covering a range of practical topics of key concern to the Vietnamese journalism sector. The National Press Festival 2025 is scheduled to take place from June 19 to 21 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem District.
Meanwhile, on the evening of June 21, the 19th National Press Awards – 2024 will be held at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium. The awards council has selected 128 outstanding works to present 13 first prizes, 27 second prizes, 49 third prizes, and 39 consolation prizes. Notably, this is the first year that the awards include two new categories: multimedia and creative journalism.
* On June 16, the Hue City Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization of the Hue City Party Committee and the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, co-hosted a seminar titled “Hue Journalism Accompanying the Development of the Hometown.”
Hue’s press community currently includes more than 300 journalists and reporters, four local press agencies, eight representative offices of central, sectoral, and other provincial newspapers, along with 36 resident correspondents and 32 accredited reporters working in the locality.
In recent years, the city’s press has focused on disseminating the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, while actively promoting patriotic emulation movements. It has also effectively publicized socio-economic development, safeguarded national defense and security, and proactively countered hostile forces and sabotage plots.
* Also on June 16, the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the merger of Lai Chau Newspaper and Lai Chau Radio and Television Station into a single entity, Lai Chau Newspaper, under the direct management of the provincial Party Committee.
The merger aims to establish a professional, modern, and multimedia press agency by streamlining organizational structures and leveraging the strengths of multiple forms of journalism.
