This year, the festival attracted the participation of 40 film production companies across the nation with 127 works, including 17 feature films, 37 documentaries, 15 science films, 23 animated films and 35 others of different kinds.
Of the participating films, 67 were streamed on digital platform VTVGo to meet the viewers’ demand for films in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizing board also worked with relevant units to screen participating works at four cinemas in Hue city to entertain the audience during the festival.
Golden Lotus Award, the most prestigious award of the Vietnam Film Festival, went to “Mat biec” (Dreamy eyes) by Director Victor Vu.
People’s Artist Le Khanh, the lead actress in “Gai gia lam chieu” (The Royal Bride), won the best actress title, while actor Tuan Tran pocketed the best actor title for his performance in “Bo gia” (Dad, I'm Sorry).
In documentary category, “Ranh gioi” (Boundary) about COVID-19-infected people and “Phim do” (literally "Red film") about war cameramen and correspondents were awarded Golden Lotus and Silver Lotus Awards, respectively.
Apart from main awards, organizers presented the best screenwriter, best cameraman, and best music editor titles to Le Danh Truong, Ha Hai Long and Chu Duc Thang, respectively.
The jury’s Certificate of Merit was granted to the documentary, titled “Mam xanh dat lua” (literally “Spouts on past war zones”).
The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival was part of the activities to welcome the National Cultural Conference and realize the goals of developing comprehensive human resource, building an advanced culture imbued with national characteristics that was outlined in the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.
