129 canoeists from 16 cities and provinces throughout Vietnam competed in the three-day National Canoe Club Championship, which started on the morning of April 11th at the West Lake Canoe Club, Hanoi.

Bad weather partly affected the canoeists’ vision and their performance, as well.

At the qualifying round, the canoe team from Hung Yen province was tipped as the favorites in the men’s 1000m four-seated kayak.

The Hung Yen team’s success is attributed to their newly upgraded equipment purchased, costing nearly VND 800 million - K4 (four-seated kayak), K2 (double-seated kayak), K1 (single seat kayak), C2 (double kneeing canoe) and rowing 4.
