Vietnam, Laos cooperate to prevent COVID-19 pandemic
PANO - Leaders of Thanh Hoa and Houaphanh (Laos) provinces on April 13 held a ceremony to share their experience in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
After nearly 3 months of implementing the epidemic prevention measures, the COVID-19 situation in Thanh Hoa province has been under control. Notably, the province has quarantined 10,146 people, provided testing services for 2,094 citizens, of whom 1,187 were negative for SARS-CoV-2 while the remainders were waiting for their results.

Thanh Hoa province had three cases testing positive for the virus . The provincial General Hospital cured one case while the remaining three patients were transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
At the event, delegates exchanged their experience in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing health monitoring and quarantining people returning from COVID-19-hit areas, localizing areas with infected patients to prevent the spread of COVID-19 , promoting dissemination of 2019-nCoV-related information, and raising the public's awareness of the epidemic prevention measures.
On this occasion, leaders of Thanh Hoa province presented necessary medical equipment for COVID-19 prevention such as ventilators , medical face masks, and bottles of antiseptic water, totally worth VND 1 billion, to the Lao locality.
Concluding the conference, delegates of the two sides agreed that in the coming time, the health agencies, customs departments, and the border guard forces of the two countries will regularly exchange information on the COVID-19 epidemic, promote cooperation between the two sides' authorities along the borderline, thereby helping border people control COVID-19 infection and prevent people from illegally crossing the border.
