A delegation of the Development Department under the Royal Cambodian Defense Ministry extending greetings to Bac Lieu province

Standing Vice-Chairman of the Bac Lieu provincial People’s Committee Le Minh Chien and representatives from several departments held a reception for the Cambodian delegation.

Lieut. Gen. Dong Mao, Head of the Cambodian delegation, wished Bac Lieu leadership, armed forces and locals a happy Lunar New Year.

During the meeting, he briefed the Vietnam’s side on Cambodia’s development with 2017 GDP reaching 6.9 percent and per capita income of USD 1,435 per year.

Vietnam and Cambodia are neighboring countries sharing 1,137km of borderline. The two countries have a traditional friendship and close coordination in all fields, especially security, defense, and cultural exchanges, he concluded.

For his part, Chien thanked the Cambodian officers for their wishes, while congratulating Cambodia on achievements over the past year.

He noted that last year, Bac Lieu recorded an economic growth of 6.83 percent, while the living conditions of locals had been improved significantly.

This year, the province will focus on developing renewable energy, high-tech shrimp-farming, tourism, services and high-quality education, with the aim of making Bac Lieu a strong locality in the region, Chien added.

He also underscored that the province always tries its best to promote the special traditional ties between Vietnam and Cambodia.
