The encouraging development of bilateral collaboration has benefited both sides, helped promote peace in the two countries, and contributed to stability and prosperity of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to which Vietnam and Cambodia are members, PM Hun Sen said.

The Cambodian leader expressed his wish to meet PM Phuc at the 27th World Economic Forum on ASEAN slated for September in Hanoi.

The sixth general election of Cambodia on July 29 drew 20 political parties vying for 125 seats in the parliament. According to the National Election Committee, the election was a success with 82.89 percent of those with voting rights going to the polls, much higher than the turnout rate of 69.61 percent in the fifth election in 2013.

The committee is scheduled to announce the preliminary results of the election on August 11 and the official results on August 15 if no proper complaints are made.
