Accordingly, the “I love national sea and islands” contest will be organized in the whole country. In the 2023-2030 period, it will be implemented in 28 coastal provinces and cities; in the 2024-2027 period in all districts, towns and key areas of coastal localities and a number of key areas; in the 2028-2030 period in all of the districts and towns of 28 coastal provinces and cities and other key areas. By 2030, the competition will have been extended to areas without sea.

The contest plays an important role in disseminating national and international laws on sea and islands to people, especially secondary school students, across the country. This competition aims to create a significant shift in perception, civilians’ responsibility, enhance the role of local authorities in educating people of Vietnam's sea and islands, and help equip knowledge, foster love for the homeland, and create a healthy and interesting playground to inspire and motivate youngsters in their learning, contributing to the training of future leaders for the nation’s development and defense.

After 10 years of implementation (2013-2023), the coast guard force has successfully organized 111 competitions at 313 secondary schools across 34 provinces and cities, attracting 24,303 students, and more than 130,000 teachers and students cheering.

Additionally, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command handed over 4,452 scholarships, 1,887 bicycles, more than 16,000 notebooks, 800 school bags, adopted 24 students, presented 2,688 gifts to policy families, and provided free medical check-ups and medicines for 2,673 other cases. This has significantly enhanced the key responsibility of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, related military agencies as regulated, and the care and direction of ministries, sectors and localities during the implementation of the contest.
