The event was chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics and Head of the Standing Office of the Fund.
Over the past time, together with making preparations for the launch of the fund, the Standing Office of the Fund “For Vietnam’s Seas and Islands” has cooperated with relevant agencies to complete a draft plan to build the fund in the 2021-2025 period and the flowing years to submit to higher level authorities for approval.

Reports delivered at the meeting revealed that under the instruction of the Steering Board of the Fund “For Vietnam’s Seas and Islands,” the Department of Information and Education under the General Department of Politics has cooperated with the Military Broadcasting Center to find a venue for the launch ceremony, write the script of the launch ceremony, and work with the Vietnam Television to broadcast the event.
The People’s Army Newspaper launched and published more than 1,100 articles and 120 videos on the website Fund “For Vietnam’s Seas and Islands,” while the Navy, the Border Guard Command, and the Coast Guard Command collaborated with central and local agencies and localities, especially coastal ones to host series of activities to celebrate the event.
Concluding the meeting, General Phuong asked members of the standing office to strengthen the organization of the Steering Board of the Fund “For Vietnam’s Seas and Islands” and complete all preparations for the first meeting of the steering board in 2021.
Meanwhile, other supporting agencies under the steering board prepared for the launch ceremony of the fund slated for the first week of June in Hai Phong city.
Phuong also asked relevant agencies to complete all paper work for the official launch of the fund, seek for sponsors, hold a press meeting to introduce the event, and make a guest list while developing a back-up plan to host the event at the Military Broadcasting Center if the COVID-19 is not controlled.
