DAV’s East Sea Institute marks 10th founding anniversary
PANO - The East Sea Institute of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) held a ceremony on July 1 to mark its 10th founding anniversary.
The institute is a researching unit specializing in the protection of seas, islands, sovereignty, sovereign rights, and national jurisdiction. Over the past 10 years, the unit has made great efforts to build its group of experts and enhance scientific researches, contributing to reinforcing scientific, historical, legal and political bases to safeguard the sovereignty, sovereign rights, and national jurisdiction in the East Sea (internationally South China Sea) as well as raise voice to help regional and global communities understand the policies of Vietnam’s Party and State over the issue.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son required the East Sea Institute to strive to become Vietnam's leading prestigious research institution, affirming its brand in the region and the world.
The institute needs to attach importance to the training of internationally influential experts and scholars, whose researches are published in world-renowned scientific journals and frequently cited by the international academic community. Vietnamese experts and scholars studying about the East Sea must have a worthy voice at the world's leading prestigious forums, he stressed.
The minister wished that the East Sea Institute would continue to build prestigious forums and workshops in the region, promote new and practical ideas on international cooperation in line with the interests of Vietnam and the region, further promote the “Vietnamese bamboo” diplomacy in cooperation, research and academic exchange.
