Spectacular beauty of Hon Yen in anchovy catching season
PANO – Located around 20km from Tuy Hoa city of Phu Yen province, Hon Yen Islet has always been known for its breathtaking pristine beauty.
On the islet, tourists can breathe fresh air, and enjoy alluring works of art as fishermen cast their fishing nets into the sea. Watching local fishermen catch fish is one of the many interesting activities for tourists and photo hunters when they visit this area.
Below are some photos reflecting the magical beauty of Hon Yen Islet taken by photographer Cao Ky Nhan, a Phu Yen native living and working in Ho Chi Minh City. In spite of living and working far from hometown, Nhan always holds the coastal province close to the heart.

This photo was taken on Hon Yen Islet in the fishing season. Located in Nhon Hoi hamlet, Tuy An district’s An Hoa commune, the islet was called Hon Yen because it used to be home to birds which build their edible nests. |

Hon Yen compound comprises Hon Yen, Hon Dun, Ban Than, Ganh Yen, Hon Choi, Vung Choi islets, of which Hon Yen is the pride of the area. The compound was recognized as a national relic in 2018. Both Hon Yen and Hon Dun are located only 100m from the coast, so tourists can wade in the islets in dry season. |

According to Nhan, from May to August, local fishermen in Nhon Hoi hamlet flock to Hon Yen Islet to catch anchovy. Bustling scenes in harvesting season have become attractive to photo hunters. |
