More than a charity trip, the journey represents an effort to plant seeds of hope and spread awareness of sustainable living among children in remote areas.
Gifts from city, stories of dedication
This year’s highlight, themed “Mimori,” draws inspiration from simple childhood memories, small joys like candies, comic books, and handmade toys. Designed as a “mini grocery store” under a symbolic banyan tree, the concept created a familiar, warm space where each item carried emotional value beyond its material worth.

Every product, from drawstring bags to crayon boxes, was the result of months of preparation, including fundraising and collection campaigns, such as the recycling fair “Gio Phe 2025: Bubbly Bazza” and the collection drive “Luom Day 2025: Scavelis.” These items, supported by contributions from Hanoi residents, ultimately reached children in disadvantaged highland communities.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, deputy head of the project’s organizing board, shared her emotion upon witnessing the results: the children’s joy affirmed that the long process, from sorting used paper to organizing events, was worthwhile.
Beyond giving: shaping environmental awareness
Unlike conventional charity activities, the program integrated environmental education into interactive games and hands-on experiences. Volunteers guided students on waste sorting and creative reuse of materials, enabling them to craft simple school supplies from recycled paper.

The lively atmosphere at Lung Hoai campus reflected a deeper impact: children were not just recipients, but active participants in learning sustainable practices. This approach helps instill long-term awareness of environmental protection through everyday actions.
Despite being high school and university students, members of Striped Project demonstrated a structured and professional approach, from fundraising and communications to on-site logistics, highlighting a new generation of socially responsible youths.

A long-term commitment to community and environment
The 2026 program continues the success of “Volunteer Day 2025” in Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen Province), where the project donated supplies and financial support to a kindergarten. Over 11 seasons of operation, Striped Project has proven its sustainability, not as a short-term campaign, but as a long-term commitment to addressing social and environmental challenges.

Drawing dreams and nurturing green awareness |
The bright smiles of children in Lung Hoai were perhaps the most compelling evidence showing that these young volunteers are not only delivering material support, but also nurturing a mindset of care, responsibility, and hope. Each small action today contributes to building a greener and more sustainable future for the community.

Striped Project was founded in 2015 by a group of high school students in Hanoi, initially aiming to address paper waste by collecting and recycling used paper into notebooks for disadvantaged children. Over time, the project expanded to include the collection of books, plastic bottles, and clothing through its “Luom Day” campaigns, alongside organizing “Gio Phe” recycling fairs and annual volunteer trips. Through these initiatives, the project has continuously promoted environmental awareness while supporting underprivileged communities. |
