Vietnamese youths active in climate action
PANO – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) launched a special report “Youth for Climate Action in Vietnam” in Hanoi from August 18 to 20.
The special report made debut in 2021 by a 20-member youths group, representing about 1,000 youths across the country. It aims to raise voice of the youths as well as share their visions with policymakers, so that they can get the support they need and increase their contribution to climate action.
The report pointed out challenges facing the youths in taking climate action, such as technology accessibility, shortage of finance; lack of cooperation opportunity, and mapped out solutions for the problems. Many initiatives in the report have received awards and are widely present at the “Youth for Climate Innovation” contest.
Addressing the event, Director of the Department of Climate Change (MoNRE) Tang The Cuong encouraged the youths to update information more extensively with typical examples; and propose measures to making policies in response to climate change.
