He noted that in recent years, the city has achieved notable progress, becoming an increasingly attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists and investors. He called on Can Tho to promptly and effectively implement the Party and Government’s policies, as well as the N.A.’s laws and resolutions on administrative reorganization, while pursuing strong economic growth targets. He also stressed the importance of thorough preparation for the upcoming Party congresses at all levels for the 2025–2030 term, and for the elections of the 16th N.A. and the people's councils for the 2026–2031 tenure.

Man urged the city to fully harness and maximize local and regional advantages, with particular focus on developing a green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge-based economy, shared economy, and private sector.

He further underlined the need to balance economic development with cultural and social progress, healthcare improvements, tourism expansion, international cooperation, and investment in education and training to create a highly skilled workforce.

Also at the event, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of its People's Council Pham Van Hieu highlighted the city’s strategic significance during the resistance war against the U.S. Located at the heart of the delta, it was home to the headquarters of the U.S.’s fourth tactical zone, making it a key operational base for military campaigns against the region.
