The agreement not only helps Japan solve its shortage of human resources, but further promotes cooperation, labor exchange, vocational training and technology transfer between the two countries.

According to an updated report by Vietnam’s Department of Overseas Workers, Vietnam has sent more than 250,000 trainees to Japan.

In 2018 alone, nearly 70,000 Vietnamese trainees were sent to Japan, accounting for over 50 percent of the number workers admitted by Japan.
