Thu lauded the cooperation between the two universities, particularly in molecular structure study and the establishment of Centre for Molecular and Nano Architecture (MANAR) in the VNU, HCM City in 2011. She expressed her hope that UCLA will continue to strengthen collaboration with HCM City in research and training.

Meanwhile, vice chancellor Waugh said that cooperation between the two universities has brought practical benefits to both sides and to relations between Vietnam and the US.

Established in 1919, UCLA is one of the world’s leading scientific research universities. The university has worked with the VNU and HCM City to carry out molecular biology research, biochemistry and cancer research.

MANAR was set up by both universities to promote research on the structure and size of molecules and nanoparticles, the application of advanced technology in basic research and innovation in material production for green technology.
