The event gathers around 300 members of the national information security incident response system and units from ministries, departments, branches and companies nationwide. |
The exercise focused on troubleshooting network incidents caused by e-mails and vulnerable online services to the information systems of agencies, organizations and businesses.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung asked the participating units to actively join hands in analyzing situations and coordination procedures and addressing simulated incidents during the drill.
He underlined that they should effectively exercise and apply Vietnam’s current regulations in line with the international standards to work together on solutions to incidents. After the exercise, the participants will summarize experiences and lessons learnt from the event.
The exercise aimed to improve the participants’ skills to detect malicious codes, track the sources of attacks and emails, analyze network traffic and logs of web servers, and propose solutions to issues related to the incidents.
The drill also provided an opportunity for organizations and units to check the connectivity between/among their affiliates, inspect their emergency plans in the incident response process, and raise their incident response capabilities and coordination ability in handling transnational cyber security incidents.
According to the VNCERT statistics, since beginning of this year, Vietnam has recorded 6,219 cyber-attacks, including 2,155 phishing, 3,824 deface and 240 malware attacks. Meanwhile, nearly 100,000 Vietnamese websites queried or connected to botnets.
