Viet Tri city was chosen by the Party Central Committee and Government as one of the two localities to build first centralized industrial zone. After three years of construction, on March 18, 1962, Viet Tri Industrial Zone was put into operation. On June 4, 1962, the Government issued a decision to establish Viet Tri city of Phu Tho province, opening a new chapter for the development of the locality.

Over the past 60 years, the city has developed significantly to become the first-level urban area and the center of politics, economy, culture, and technical science of Phu Tho province.

The city’s authorities and people have received numerous noble awards from the Party and State such as the “Hero of the People’s Armed Force” title.
