The investment will fund the expansion and renovation of the airport apron, allowing it to accommodate nine Code C aircraft. Construction is set to begin before April 30 and be completed by December, with a total budget of 236.63 billion VND.

Additionally, ACV has approved a 68.36 billion VND project to upgrade the passenger terminal T1, increasing its capacity to 3-3.5 million passengers annually by 2030. This renovation is also scheduled to start before the end of April and finish by December.
A key part of the expansion involves major repairs to the airport’s 2,400-meter-long, 45-meter-wide runway, along with upgrades to two taxiways and safety zones. With an investment of over 623 billion VND, this work will require a temporary closure of Vinh International Airport, with construction beginning before June 30 and flight operations resuming by December 31, 2025.
To facilitate the expansion, authorities have been working to clear 3.352 hectares of land within the existing apron area. Future plans also include constructing a second runway, enlarging the aircraft apron near terminal T2, and expanding passenger terminal T2.
While most legal procedures have been settled, ACV has urged Nghe An authorities to help resolve the remaining land acquisition issues as quickly as possible.
To ensure the project stays on track, ACV has called on local authorities to support access to construction materials. There are also plans to extend the existing runway to 3,000 meters, enabling the airport to accommodate Code E aircraft for long-haul routes, aligning with its long-term development strategy.
As the project’s lead investor, ACV has committed to delivering all three upgrades on schedule, with a completion target of December 30, 2025. These improvements will enhance passenger travel, modernize aviation infrastructure in central Vietnam, and support the long-term economic growth of Nghe An province and the wider north-central region.
