The State Records Management and Archives Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs presented the Health Ministry a copy of the letter of President Ho Chi Minh sent to a conference of medical cadres held on February 27, 1955 in Hanoi.

Being busy with his work, President Ho Chi Minh could not attend the conference and sent a letter to the event. The 368-word letter included the President’s directions and suggestions. President Ho Chi Minh also recommended medical personnel to be honest and unite with one another, love patients and strive for the national medical sector’s development.
With the profound significance of the letter, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) on February 6, 1985 issued a decision to take February 27 as the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.
* Politburo member and Permanent Deputy-Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong extended greetings to doctors of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Tong also presented the hospital’s staff a photo of Uncle Ho with medical cadres.
* Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, a member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education paid a visit to the National Hospital of Traditional Medicine.
Thuong also inquired after, congratulated Professor Nguyen Lan Viet, Head of the National Heart Association and former Head of the National Heart Institute and recognized his active contributions to the medical sector.
* Deputy-Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited medical centers of mountainous districts of Huong Hoa and Dakrong in Quang Tri province. Dam wished medical personnel nationwide and those working in remote, mountainous and border areas to surmount difficulties and wholeheartedly take care of local people’s health at the best.
* Various delegations from the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Party Committee extended greetings to hospitals, outstanding doctors and People’s Doctors in the city.
In his visit to People’s Hospital 115, Tat Thanh Cang, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy-Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Party Committee applauded the hospital’s contingents of doctors and nurses for their all-out efforts to improve quality of examination and treatment for people.

General Minh presents gifts to patients under treatment at Military Hospital 103 |
* Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy-Chief-of-the-General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army accompanied by representatives from the General Staff’s offices and agencies congratulated the medical staff of Central Military Hospital 108 on the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.
General Minh also extended greetings to cadres, doctors and nurses of the National Institute of Burns and Military Hospital 103, both under the Vietnam Military Medical University.
* Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy-Minister of Public Security visited the Hospital of Traditional Medicine, Hospital 19-8 and Department of Health, all under the Ministry. He highlighted the hospitals’ improved examining and treating quality, and application of advanced techniques.
* A get-together hosted by Military Hospital 175 of the Ministry of National Defense gathered generations of doctors and military medical cadres of the hospital.
On the same day, the hospital and the Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee inaugurated the over VND 165 billion project on the hospital’s power system improvement.
* Visiting medical facilities in Tay Ninh province, the provincial Military Command thanked their personnel for better care for troops and people’s health in the locality and the coordination in checking health of youth for recruitments, in the local armed forces’ training, exercise and search and rescue activities.
