“Red Journey” blood donation campaign to reach 42 localities
PANO – By July 8, the “Red Journey” blood donation campaign had been held in 18 cities and provinces across the country, and collected more than 12,000 blood units.
The eighth “Red Journey” blood donation campaign, themed “Connecting the Vietnamese blood,” will take place in 42 provinces and cities nationwide from June 6 to August 8 this year.
It is co-organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS)'s chapters in 42 cities and provinces.

Dak Nong province received more than 2,000 blood units while the provinces of Lai Chau, Hai Phong, and Kien Giang collected more than 1000 blood units. Ben Tre and Hau Giang provinces are localities to participate in this event for the first time, but they collected a good number of blood units (700 units).
Other activities, including honoring blood donors, and raising local people's awareness of congenital hemolytic anemia and blood donation campaign, presenting gifts to patients, were also held during the event.
Fifty cities and provinces have participated actively in the program and 250,000 blood units have been collected over the past seven years. The program has now become a social movement, drawing the participation of people from all walks of life.
