The event was to recognize, praise, and appreciate the contribution of domestic and international organizations and volunteers who are always willing to bring good things to society and the community. Voluntary activities have contributed to spreading the spirit of kindness, sharing, vanguard and volunteering to organizations and individuals in society.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Standing Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Ngoc Luong mentioned difficulties and challenges confronting Vietnam on its development path.

Nguyen Ngoc Luong said that in the current context, youth organizations at all levels and voluntary organizations should be flexible and regularly renew their operation methods to be in accordance with the actual situation and mobilize the maximum participation of volunteers.

He emphasized that the volunteer forces and youths play a very important role in national socio-economic development and national security and social order protection. They also join the whole society’s efforts in taking care of those in need to ensure that no one is left behind.

The National Volunteer Awards was launched in 2011. Over the past 11 years, more than 240 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary activities have been honored with the award.

In 2022, the award received 258 applications from provinces, cities, organizations, units, and individuals across the country. The National Voting Council for the National Volunteer Award voted to select nine teams and ten individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary activities for the development of the country and the community in 2022.

At the event, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union awarded the National Volunteer Award in 2022 to nine collectives and ten individuals with outstanding contributions and achievements in volunteering. In addition, the organizing panel presented three other awards to one collective and one individual with largest online votes on the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee’s fanpage and one collective that has sent the most applications.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee also handed over certificates of merit to 200 collectives with outstanding achievements in voluntary activities for the community in 2022.

Outstanding individuals honored at the event

After the launch ceremony, a voluntary blood donation festival was jointly held by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Hanoi Blood Association, the National Volunteer Center, Hanoi Museum, and other units.

The “Clean Up Vietnam” Campaign was also launched to spread the message of living environment protection by practical deeds. The event attracted the participation of more than 15,000 volunteers from 63 provinces and cities.

In addition, more than 230 programs and volunteer works for the community were simultaneously kicked off at 230 locations in 63 provinces and cities with the participation of 40,000 volunteers.

On the occasion, heads of 200 volunteer clubs and teams had an exchange to share their experience in conducting volunteer activities in 2023. They also discussed to seek measures to enhance the quality of the work in the coming time.
