The program is part of the Vietnam-India Friendship Year 2017 to mark the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam-India diplomatic ties and 10 years of the strategic partnership.

The event will start in Hanoi on June 17 at the Ly Thai To Statue area where about 1,000 people will practice Yoga at the same time in two hours.

The event will then take place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 25 with the participation of about 2,000 Yoga lovers, while it will be responded by other seven cities and provinces, Vinh Phuc, Vinh, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Long An, Dong Nai and Can Tho from June 17 to July 2.

According to Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, on December 11, 2014, the UN General Assembly chose June 21 as International Yoga Day following the proposal of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The diplomat also showed impression at Vietnamese people’s interest and love for Yoga, as well as the active support of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People’s Committee of Hanoi.

On the occasion, a Yoga book published by the Indian Government will be introduced and presented to participants at the event.
