* A ground breaking ceremony to build a memorial dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh was held on August 30 in Phung Hiep district (Hau Giang). The memorial will cover 119.7 sq.m, and costs VND 1.2 billion funded by the local budget. The project with the traditional architecture is expected to be completed on May 19 next year.

Military Hospital 175 presents gifts to needy people in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. |
* The Vietnam History Institute worked with the Thai Binh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hung Ha district’s People Committee to organize a scientific workshop entitled “Infant prodigy Nguyen Van Cam with patriotic movements in Vietnam from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century”.
During the workshop, participants agreed that Nguyen Van Cam was one of the outstanding patriots in the patriotic movement in Vietnam from late 19th century to early 20th century. He had close connections with other patriots in Vietnam, especially those in Northern Vietnam.
Scientists participating in the event also suggested that the locality should map out a plan to build a temple dedicated to infant prodigy Nguyen Van Cam in his home village as a recognisation of his contribution to the patriotic movement in Vietnam.
* The Tay Ninh provincial Military Command, in coordination with relevant organizations, on August 30, visited and presented gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to national contributors and scholarships to 20 poor students in the locality. They also cleaned martyrs’ cemeteries and offered incense to pay tribute to fallen soldiers.
* A delegation from Military Hospital 91 under the Department of Logistics (Military Region 1) and medical organizations in Cao Bang province provided free health checkups and medicines for over 300 national contributors and needy people in Vi Quang commune, Thong Nong district, Cao Bang.
On this occasion, the delegation presented 100 gifts, worth VND 300,000 each, to national contributors in the commune. Earlier, the delegation held an art exchange program with the locality.
* The Women's Union and Youth Union chapters of the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command handed over two tons of rice and more than 1,000 pieces of clothing to 200 disadvantaged people in the communes of Phu Hoi and Vinh Hoi Dong (An Phu, An Giang). The activity showed the spirit of "Good leaves protect tattered ones" between the provincial border guard and the locality.
* Military Region 1, on August 29, held a ceremony to hand over a gratitude house to Vietnamese heroic mother Nguyen Thi Tam, born in 1928, in Phu Lau hamlet, Phu Luong commune (Luong Tai, Bac Ninh). Both her husband and son died in the national resistance wars.
The house was built on an area of 100sq.m and at a total cost of VND 500 million, including VND 70 million from the “Gratitude Fund” of Military Region 1.
* Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense, on August 30, organized a program to provide free health checkups and medicines as well as present gifts and hand over gratitude houses to policy beneficiaries and needy households in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City.
Accordingly, over 300 policy beneficiary and disadvantaged people in the communes of Phu My Hung, An Nhon Tay, An Phu, Pham Van Coi, Nhuan Duc received free health checkups and medicines with gifts, worth VND 300,000 each. In addition, the delegation visited and handed over VND 70 million to support former POW Nguyen Thi Nhan to build a gratitude house, and 50 gifts, worth VND 500,000 each, to Vietnamese heroic mothers in the locality.
These activities were in celebration of the 73rd August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2), said the hospital’s Deputy Director Senior Colonel Tran Duc Thang.
