MPS and Vietnam Farmers’ Union bolster anti-crime cooperation
PANO - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Vietnam Farmers’ Union on July 6 organized a conference to review their five-year cooperation in crime prevention and control for the 2012-2016 period and sign another cooperation deal for the 2017-2021 period.
Over the past time, the public security forces have closely cooperated with local authorities and farmers’ union organizations at all levels to select personnel with good morals and high responsibility to build and reinforce grassroots-level security and order protection forces, making contributions to enhancing efficiency of the crime prevention and control work.
Senior Lieutenant General To Lam
The union’s members have also played a vital role in meditating contradictions and disputes among farmers, in addressing thousands of complaints and petitions, in educating wrongdoers, and in teaching and creating jobs for them.
Attentively, farmers have actively provided public security forces with valuable information to help find out and encourage thousands of criminals to give themselves up to the police and to hand over tens of thousands of weapons.
Addressing the conference, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, and Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union, asked Party committees and leaders of relevant units to promote information dissemination and education to raise awareness of the importance of the cooperation among their staff, especially a contingent of cadres, and to continue carrying out crime prevention and control measures effectively.
