PANO – The Military Zone 9’s Command has sent working delegations to present gifts to people and troops in border areas and on islands and inspect the combat readiness status and preparations for the coming Tet of army units.
Accordingly, the delegations presented about 300 gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers and policy beneficiaries under treatment in Hospitals 120 and 121, and former Party leaders and commanders of the zone’s command of different periods.
* The Military Zone 5’s Command and the zone’s armed forces spent VND 7.2 billion to present gifts, including rice, clothes, blankets, oil, confectionery, notebooks and pens to outstanding veteran revolutionaries, policy beneficiaries, ethnic minority people, needy students with good academic results, needy troops’ families, demobilized troops, needy militiamen and reservists in 11 provinces and cities in the zone.
* Army Corps 4’s Command’s delegations have recently presented Tet gifts, including 5kg of rice and VND 300,000 in cash each, to policy beneficiaries and needy households in the border districts of Bu Dop and Loc Ninh, Binh Phuoc province.
* The Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command sent its working delegations to present gifts to seriously wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives, heroic Vietnamese mothers, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, veteran revolutionaries, needy households in provincial border areas and families of those carrying out the mission on Truong Sa Islands and needy border areas.
* A working delegation of Military Zone 5’s Military Hospital 17 has recently provided free health check-ups and medicines for ethnic minority people and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries, needy households and students.
* Army and civilian units, businesses and benefactors of Tay Ninh province presented gifts to the needy and policy beneficiaries in border areas and provided free health check-ups and medicines to the needy in the province. Besides, provincial localities also handed over houses to needy households.
* Delegations of Vinh Long province are carrying out social activities for policy beneficiaries and those who rendered good service to the revolution. As planned, in 2014, the province will spend VND 4.9 billion for social activities.
* On January 20th, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command completed house renovations for Ms. Ho Thi Truc, a needy member of the command’s women's union, in residential area 9, Hoa Tien hamlet, Hung Loc commune, Vinh City. The command’s women's union and organs presented a TV set and gifts to the needy staff.
The project demonstrated the beautiful tradition, “When drinking water, remember its source” and the spirit of helping those in need of Vietnamese people, as well as aimed to promote solidarity and traditions of the army in general and border guards in particular.
