An overview of the meeting

For those whose assignments are ending, he encouraged them to share candid reflections and insights about their experience in Vietnam, helping the country’s future development efforts. The Deputy Minister also hoped that the volunteers’ time in Vietnam would be a valuable source of understanding about the country’s people, daily life, and level of development. He believed that the volunteers would continue to serve as a bridge between the peoples of Japan and Vietnam, deepening the fruitful partnership between the two nations.

Through the volunteer program, JICA aims not only to support Vietnam’s socio-economic development but also to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Vietnam. It is expected that after returning home, JICA volunteers will  promote the valuable experience gained during their time living and working in Vietnam.

The JICA Volunteer Program, implemented under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) framework, began in 1965 and marks its 60th anniversary this year. Currently, 1,814 JICA volunteers are serving in 74 countries, out of a total of 57,986 volunteers dispatched since the program’s inception.
